In the simplest of terms, art pop is a genre of music that combines elements of pop and art.

It is characterized by its use of unusual sound effects and instruments, as well as the way it incorporates multiple genres into its songs. Art pop often features complex arrangements with elaborate instrumentation and/or production techniques. It's generally associated with alternative rock but some artists have also been influenced by mainstream pop or electronic dance music (EDM).

The genre gained popularity in the late 2000s but continues to be popular today.
